Position Summary

North Coast Communications is seeking a part-time Winter/Spring 2026 Communications & Research Intern to support digital content creation, strategic communications, business development, and internal operations.

We’re looking for an outgoing self-starter and strong writer who is eager to gain hands-on experience across public affairs, communications, research, and agency operations. The role is remote-first but will also include occasional travel around Washington, DC, for events, meetings, and professional networking opportunities as needed. These in-person experiences are an important part of the internship and provide meaningful exposure to the DC communications, policy, and business landscape.


Responsibilities

  • Draft briefing memos, research summaries, talking points, and light communications copy
  • Assist with social media scheduling and basic content creation
  • Support execution of communications, public affairs, and client-facing projects
  • Conduct internet research on organizations, industries, and policy issues
  • Attend occasional professional events, meetings, or forums in Washington, DC and represent NCC professionally
  • Participate in project meetings, take notes, and help manage follow-up tasks
  • Assist with business development research, prospect identification, and proposal preparation
  • Support internal operations, including document organization, meeting prep, and administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student or recent graduate in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, International Affairs, Business, or a related field
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills
  • Prior internship, newsroom, research assistantship, or campus media experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Canva, Buffer, or similar tools
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently
  • Interest in communications, public affairs, policy, or digital media
  • Ability to travel independently throughout Washington, DC (Metro, bus, rideshare, walking, etc.) for events or meetings as required
